Hancocks Burlington Arcade Shop

The brief was simple: 'Update the shop-front and interior of this Grade II listed shop whilst keeping the shop open and trading.' In keeping with the modern Hancocks, the design uses uncluttered fittings and a neutral colour palette which respects the company's 160 year history. Opening up the window displays allows light to flood back into the shop making it feel bigger and fresher. Planning permission, freeholder approval and the associated paperwork were all dealt with, as were the requirements of the client's insurance company and the obvious restrictions of working in the Burlington Arcade whilst keeping the shop open throughout the project.
