GOLDSMITHS' FAIR 2017
At this year's fair we were asked to create displays and installations that were grander and more ambitious than ever before. Culminating in three separate installations, we were able to fully take over the foyer entrance space of this amazing building.
“The New Abstraction" took the form of two imposing installations that inhabited the building's architecture.
Beautiful objects of silver, chosen by Christina Jansen of The Scottish Gallery, were displayed within a box of mirrors. This enabled the items to be viewed in the round, allowing visitors to see all aspects of each object.
The angled mirrors also created visually-striking displays, reflecting not just the silver objects but also the hall itself.
"Timeless Innovation” showcased beautiful examples of the goldsmiths’ craft from the Goldsmiths’ Company's own collection, as well as a few that weren’t.
Curated by jewellery expert Joanna Hardy, geometric shapes cascaded from the back wall of the vitrine onto the base creating interesting angular platforms to show off these impressive pieces.
These were then laid out with no attention to date of design or production to highlight how great design can be truly timeless.
Finally, “Precious Mysteries” was a large vitrine fully lined in soft pink. Items selected by film-maker Ujin Lin were then displayed on crystal blocks, display pads and suspended in the air to create a truly luxurious feel.
